Doc Nash

Hi

My name is Dr Jo Nash, also known as Doc Nash, Doc or Jo by my students.  I have been an outstanding teacher and tutor for over 30 years, helping students of all ages, levels and abilities. I have worked as a senior examiner and subject manager for the AQA. My specialist subjects are A level Biology and Chemistry and GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

In this time, I have developed a successful method of teaching and tutoring students, which works for all levels and abilities.  Everyone has improved their grades with my support, often by more than one grade.  Very few of my students have achieved less than a B grade in any subject (I can count them on the fingers of one hand).

When teaching, I aim to inspire and enthuse students with the subjects. I provide education and not information, which is what I aspire to provide in these courses. Additionally, I focus on concepts not just facts, so the students can understand, interpret and apply their understanding when answering exam questions. The key to achieving their true potential, students not only have to work hard (there is no short cut here), but also practice, practice and practice exam questions.

Students I have helped range from those with severe physical disabilities to young people for whom school doesn’t suit their personalities. A recent young man had been thrown out of at least 8 schools of all types (his father had stopped counting at 8!). After a couple years working with me, he is now on a level 3 qualification and planning to go to university. A bit of a change from the angry teenager who was going to live on benefits.
